Price cycles are real in some cities. Here is how to spot a pattern where you live.
In several Canadian cities, retail prices follow a cycle: they climb sharply on one day, then drift down over the following days until the next increase.
Watch your local pattern
The day prices jump varies by market. Track the price at stations you pass regularly for two or three weeks and you will usually see the rhythm.
Do not chase small savings
Driving across town to save a cent or two per litre rarely pays off once you count the extra fuel and time. Combine fill-ups with trips you are already making.
